Dream state in Kael's life is very important, since he can link what he sees in his dreams to his memories, to his past, to his future and in particular to his choices.

After a bad fight he had with Heily, precisely this one

he goes mad and risks to set on fire the whole Lenore's mansion. A risk that is warded off by a mystesious figure who could put out his fire. After this meeting Kael falls sick, with high fever and for days he remains between life and death.
In one of his dreams he feels all his wounds bleeding again until he sees a small figure, his unborn child, who speaks a prophecy to him.
Among the things the child says, is that Kael must use his biggest powers in order to go on in his quest. His biggest powers are not connected to his fire though, but to his mind.
The two powers, he says, are the Thought and the Word.
